The 10th Edition of ‘POHOR’ – The National Level Photography Exhibition Kicks Off

The grand opening saw over 950 photographers from across the country and abroad take part in the four-day event.

The Photography Club of Assam, popularly known as the PCA, is the home for photographers across borders. Founded on April 8, 2012 in Dibrugarh, it has established itself as one of the best photographic organizations in the country. PCA has won various awards such as the Best Club award in many events and competitions held around the world. Individual member awards in various contests have passed the century mark.

The club has nearly 1,20,000 online members and nearly a thousand registered members, both of which are the highest in India.

“At PCA, we work with the vision of being the catalyst for building photography as a culture like any other art form in North East India. The Assam Photography Club is affiliated with the Photographic Society of America and the Federation of Indian Photography,” an official press release said.

PCA’s annual photography exhibition POHOR (Light) first appeared in the same year of its founding at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on World Photography Day (August 19, 2012) in Guwahati. It features exceptional photographs of its members from around the world. With photography workshops, panel discussions, motivational programs, and more, the exhibition turns into an annual photography festival.

In 2020, due to the pandemic situation created by COVID-19, PCA decided to add a new dimension to POHOR in the form of a digital exhibition by presenting a web portal to its members to show their talents to the world. .

Meanwhile, organizers have urged people to visit the exhibition whose mission is to be the catalyst for a photographic revolution in the lives of the people of Assam. The exhibition will run until September 11, 2022 at Gauhati Artist Guild Gallery, Chandmari, Guwahati.
