Opening of the photographic exhibition “90 minutes” in Katara

Doha: Culture Minister, HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, on Wednesday opened Qatari photographer Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain’s ’90 Minutes’ exhibition at Cultural Village Foundation Building 18 – Katara, amidst a large presence of civil servants, artists and media personnel and those interested in the arts of photography and sport.
The exhibition, organized by the Qatar Photography Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, included 90 selected photos that documented the major sports tournaments organized by the State of Qatar from 2010 to 2020, for which Doha was awarded the title of “Capital sports world”. – such as AFC Asian Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Gulf Cup, FIFA Arab Cup, CAF Super Cup, etc.
Director of the Qatar Photography Center, Abdullah Al Musleh, praised the exhibition which meets the passion of photography enthusiasts and those who love sports.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Musleh said the organization of the exhibition was part of an overall plan to prepare for and celebrate the hosting of the World Cup. FIFA Qatar 2022, which includes the organization of conferences, courses, photography workshops and art exhibitions; noting that the organization of the 90 Minutes exhibition was innovative in its interior layout which was made in the form of a football pitch.
He revealed that the exhibition will host for its third day an Argentinian international sports photographer who will present a theoretical lecture and a workshop on the arts of sports photography.
The director of the Qatar Photography Center reported that the Centre, in partnership with Katara, is preparing to hold an exhibition in November which will include images from the World Cup.
For his part, photographer Jassim Al Buainain told QNA that the exhibit, which will run until September 30, celebrates the country’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup by documenting sporting events and tournaments. majors over 12 years, and highlighting the aesthetics of photography and its arts through sport.
Al Buainian explained that the choice of the title “90 Minutes” for the exhibition was inspired by the timing of the football match; and that he made sure to feature 90 photos in the exhibit to match the title. Photographer Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain has won local photography awards and participated in group exhibitions. He is a judge in local and international photography competitions and has been on safaris in Africa to photograph wildlife. His work has been published in National Geographic magazine.
