A thought-provoking series of images that illustrate the ever-evolving process of art and creation by six Emirati photographers will be featured in Taskheel’s first exhibition of 2022, which opens today.

A total of 30 images by Emirati photographers Ola Allouz, Yaghoub Al Hammadi, Mousa Al Raeesi, Faisal Al Rais, Mona Al Tamimi and Maitha Bughanoum will give visitors to the exhibition an insight into the creative process as well as the fundamental connections of humanity with the natural environment.

‘From End to End’ invites the viewer to question the synergy of humanity with the natural world. With selected works illustrating intimate aspects of human existence spanning vast geographical distances from the streets of Satwa to the secluded mangroves of Al Dhafra and the bustling shores of Zanzibar, the subtle details in each work highlight the relentless disruption of life. surrounding environment: the microparticles of plastic carried by fisherwomen drifting in the seas; the remains of fishing nets deposited in the seas of the Persian Gulf; the dredged mudflats off Abu Dhabi; and plastic waste generated by communal festivals.

While in an unspoiled area of Dubai, nest an owl and her chicks. As their existence and that of their species hangs in the balance, the images are a bold reminder of the fragility of the natural world and humanity’s need to step up and fulfill our unequivocal moral duty to protect and preserve it forever.

“The images we have selected for this exhibition embody the relationship between each stage of the artists’ lives and their creations. Participating photographers present ideas that reflect both the depth of their abilities and the abundance of their commitment to their craft, which has enabled them to encapsulate whole worlds in each work,” says Emirati photographer Jassim Al Awadhi , co-curator of the exhibition.

Jassim says the images inspire hope for a fresh start after every effort is over. “There is renewal at every end. When the end of ends is reached, there is the beginning of new worlds. We hope that this work will lead to the start of other work to come.

“From End to End” will run at the gallery in Tashkeel Nad Al Sheba 1, Dubai until March 1. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day from Sunday to Thursday and Friday (9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.). Free entry.
