Many celebrities attended the inauguration of director Ahmad Abdalla’s first photographic exhibition.

Inaugurated under the title “The Deceitful Time”, the exhibition was held at the TINTERA gallery in Zamalek and is now open to the public from January 26 to February 16.

Stars such as Basma, Sayed Ragab, Nahed Elsebai, Karim Kassem, Amr Abed, Sedky Sakhr, Hadil Hassan, Yara Goubran, director Hassan El Geretly and director Layla Araby attended the exhibition.

The exhibition features 19 photos, taken by Abdalla between 2010 and 2021, the 19 large color archival pigment prints are made up of overlays of overlooked photographs where he investigates how we remember and remember.

Visually, the work references both long exposure photography and chronophotography.

His photographs are an exploration of all that lies outside the frame arbitrarily chosen to encapsulate a memory.

Ahmad Abdalla is also currently working on his new feature film 19B (working title).

Written and directed by the artist himself, the film is produced by Mohamed Hefzy (Film Clinic), marking a new collaboration with Abdalla following previous films like Microphone and Rags and Tatters.

Born in Egypt, Abdalla is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer who is an integral part of the new wave of independent cinema in the Arab world.

He is best known for his feature films ‘Heliopolis’ (2009), ‘Microphone’ (2010), ‘Rags & Tatters’ (2013), ‘Decor’ (2015) and ‘EXT/Night’ (2018).

His many awards include Best Director at regional and local festivals such as Dubai Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Golden Antigone Prize at Cinemed Film Festival in Montpellier, Golden Tanit Prize at Carthage Film Festival and the Golden Tulip at Istanbul International. Film festival.

His films have participated in other festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the BFI London, the Singapore International Film Festival and the São Paulo International Film Festival.
